Determination of the index
of moisture penetration
We determine the moisture penetration index for insulating glazing elements in accordance with the requirements SR EN 1279-2:2018 and SR EN 1279-6:2018. The test evaluates the effectiveness of the sealing system and the dehydrating agent in limiting the penetration of moisture into the glazing cavity, contributing to verifying the durability and maintaining the performance of the product throughout its lifetime.
These assessments are essential to establish preventive measures and safety standards in various industries such as construction, transportation or consumer products.

Purpose of the test
During operation, insulating glazing is permanently exposed to variations in temperature and humidity. If the sealing system does not provide effective protection against the penetration of water vapor, the moisture accumulated in the glazing cavity can lead to the appearance of condensation between the glass sheets, reducing transparency and diminishing the thermal insulation performance.
The test determines the moisture penetration index and verifies the efficiency of the assembly formed by the perimeter sealing and the dehydrating agent, representing an important indicator of the durability of the insulating glass.
How it is done
The test is carried out under the conditions provided by the applicable standards, by exposing the samples to controlled cycles of temperature and humidity. After the test cycles are completed, the amount of moisture penetrated into the glazing cavity is determined and the moisture penetration index is calculated.
The results obtained allow the evaluation of the product's compliance with the requirements of the standards and the identification of possible deficiencies of the sealing system or the dehydrating agent.
Benefits
- checking the performance of the sealing system of the insulating glazing;
- evaluation of the effectiveness of the dehydrating agent;
- demonstration of compliance with SR EN 1279 requirements;
- factory production control (FPC) support;
- early identification of possible manufacturing non-conformities;
- increasing the reliability and durability of the product in operation.
